The Sopot Military are the main forces of Chancellor Sopot during he ruled over Commonwealth until the Red Faction overthrow it.

Sopot's armed forces first make an appearance officially in the third level Brothers in Arms in Shrikes Wild Ride , they are then encountered and fought for the first time face to face on the Bridge level of the Underground chapter trying to stop you from destroying the bridge and are then seen and fought through majority of the game up until A River Runs To It when you fight them one last time from the shores of the river. They wear green fatigues with webbing and combat helmets although not all of them wear the helmets. In Sopot's Citadel female soldiers are seen although uncommon compared to their male counterparts they are of higher rank. Once out of the Citadel and after Sopot’s death, they wear grey urban warfare fatigues but the character models stay the same. There are also some snipers who don Urban silver suits after Molov declares himself chancellor following the death of Sopot. In spite of their former objective of eliminating the Squad they declare their loyalty and follow Molov and even volunteer themselves to become Nanotech Enhanced Elite. Once Molov is killed, the organization is most likely disbanded.
Weapons and Tactics[]
Soldiers of the Commonwealth are much skilled opponents compared to the security forces in earlier chapters. They fire their weapons more accurately and more organised during combat. The Commonwealth Soldier's standard issued weapon is the CAR-72 Assault Rifle, they have access to small arms such as the CSP-19 Semi-Automatic Pistol and CMP-32 Machine Pistol the two which is common among the female military officers but the army also have access to some powerful weaponry such as the CAS-14 Automatic Combat Shotgun and Grenade Launcher (Red Faction II) as well as more powerful weapons such as the N.I.C.W Assault Rifle, W.A.S.P Rocket Launcher and the CMRD-32 Magnetic Rail Driver. On rare occasions some soldiers wield the JF90-HMG/BF Heavy Suppression Machine Gun and CSR-60 Sniper Rifle (The sniper along with the grenade launcher and Rail Driver being used more commonly by Urban Snipers)
