Collateral Damage is a guerrilla action featured in Red Faction: Guerrilla.

Description[]

Collateral Damage is about destruction of EDF properties. Each tour is scripted and follows a fixed route, making this mode a rail shooter in essence.

Mason will be contacted by Jenkins once he reaches an action icon. The player will mount the turret on Jenkins' custom Jetter and while he's driving around the player has to destroy marked EDF Property in order to cause financial loss to the EDF. The turret has a rocket launcher as its primary weapon and a machine gun as a secondary attack mode. Destroying EDF vehicles are also counted to the overall destruction. Accidental killing of civilians (literal "collateral damage") will be penalized with reduction in destruction credit.

The player need to earn a (varied) total amount of credit before the ride is over, and Jenkin's vehicle must not be destroyed. A tour always ends in one of the Red Faction safehouses. The player will be rewarded with Control and Morale points upon successful completion.

Notes[]

  • Destroyed EDF structures and properties will be reset for the duration of the destruction tour.
  • EDF properties destroyed during the action will be added up to the total credit worth counter, contributing to the achievement "Disaster Area".
  • Destroying EDF aircrafts is relatively difficult however each kill will reward the player with around 5 million credit, roughly the equivalent of a small strategic target. The reward from destroying EDF land vehicles or killing foot soldiers is relatively marginal.
  • After the (optional) death of Jenkins, Collateral Damage events will still be available and still hosted by Jenkins (his ghost?).
